Tom is the Managing Director of TNR Campaigns, where he has helped build the strategy and produced the ads for dozens of winning candidates and initiative campaigns across the country.
Most recently, Tom was an integral part of the strategy and message team for Doug Jones’ historic victory for U.S. Senator in Alabama. Tom led the production team, and his work was recognized with 7 Reed Awards and 3 Pollie Awards, including the “Best in Show” award for a Democratic Campaign.
Tom has also produced ads for Representatives Ro Khanna, Tulsi Gabbard, Mark Takano, and Seth Moulton. One spot, “Re-elect?”, propelled Seth Moulton to a shocking come-from-behind victory in the Democratic primary against longtime Congressman John Tierney. The Boston Globe called it “the best […] of the primary ads.”
In 2010, Tom helped produce the ads for Jerry Brown’s successful campaign for governor of California. Tom also led the campaign’s online strategy, helping raise nearly $3 million online, generating the most YouTube views of any gubernatorial candidate in the country, and building a following of over 100,000 on Facebook and one million on Twitter.
Tom has also been at the forefront of digital advocacy and communications, building comprehensive online campaigns for a variety of domestic and international campaigns, non-profit organizations, and corporations.
Tom is a consultant to the Humane Society of the United States and its affiliated 501c4 advising the organizations on online engagement, political strategy, and its ballot initiatives. In 2008, the successful YesonProp2 campaign in California raised $1.6 million online, received the most “yes” votes in California history, and transformed the national political debate about the treatment of farm animals. In 2016, Tom helped pass a similar measure in Massachusetts with nearly 78% of the vote, the largest margin of victory for an animal protection measure in history.
Tom has extensive international experience, consulting for clients in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Senegal, and Zimbabwe.
